From my diary

Everyone I suppose, has his pet peeves like getting ducky bumps up your back when some nut scrapes a fingernail over a blackboard, but my friend George Whittlepot has the mostest.

He said recently he didn't mind the guy who picks his nose at the dinner table nor the buy next to him at the caffeine counter who flips cigaret ashes in his cup of Joe, but the one that really gets him is the barber who talks too much, combs his hair with a dirty comb, cuts his sideburns half-cocked and then complaints because haircuts are too cheap.

George said he can stand most anything — including a ride on Malcolm Pollard's Route 66 out thar on tha hill — but he becomes irritated when the guy behind him at the movie keeps coughing on the back of his neck, kicks the seat with an "unrhythmatic" beat, musses up his hair when he moves out of the aisle behind him and ends up kicking the popcorn box under the seat and under George's feet. That's what George calls living in the rough.

Mrs. Wm. Wurtele, Jr., reminded her sports-minded son, Michael, of her birthday and received this answer: "Oh, yes, that's the day Babe Ruth set a home run record."

Reportedly the Jaycee "slave" auction is going to draw humor. One Nebraska City businessman who said he wouldn't know how to use an inexperienced "slave" in his business, said his only alternative would be to attach signs to the slave's clothing and make him walk the streets for four hours.

But Kenny Glover has other ideas. He sez he has a pile of manure that needs shifting around and he will bid on the biggest and smallest, that, by the way, would be Bus Wymore and Harold Rowe.
