Despite what Dad and Mom may say about wishing that Christmas was "over with," they are enjoying it no end, bubs. Don't let 'em kid you. When it comes to opening the Christmas packages the parents are usually the ones who have the most fun.
And that is as it should be.
Where else can a family find truly peace and happiness except on Christmas? The trouble comes after eating too much candy and turkey, hen or good ole' fried chicken and when the first of the month comes around.
If your house is anything like mine then you will be up late the night before taking care of those little arrangements and be bounced out of bed too many hours before daylight by little tykes who make a quick trip to the bathroom and then run full blast to wherever the Christmas tree is located.
The Rev. Sam Hofer, pastor of First Presbyterian church, printed this bit of soft-soaping in the Builder: "Duz" you "Dreft" along with the "Tide?" "Vel," now is the time for All to "Cheer" up. If you want real Joy the "Trend" is to Breeze to church regularly on Sunday mornings.
But too many "Woodbury" their heads in the pillows or work in their yards like "Handy Andy," forgetting that the Lord's Day was made for Lestoil. No need to send out "S O S." Where our God reigns the "Dove" of peace will never ned to send out an "S O S." Don't trust "Lux" chances by neglecting worship on Sunday. Shall we "Dial" you and remind you of those "Ivory" palaces up yonder? This is not just idle "Babo." Worship will add to your "Life-Buoy." So why uot be faithful and Wisk yourself out of bed Sunday mornings, dress up "Spic'n Span" and "Dash" like a "Comet" to God's house of prayer.
Singing "Praise" to God will bring a "Cleanser" to your soul. "Pledge" yourself and "Pride" of conscience will be yours! And life will become full of "Zest."
A Junior Chamber of Commerce community project will be shifted from election of city officials to rezoning Nebraska City's four wards.
Originally, the Jaycees had planned to conduct a survey of all Citians asking whether they prefer the city election system as is — electing persons to the commission and letting them decide who will be mayor, finance and street commissioner — or whether they would prefer electing persons to offices and not just to a three-man commission.
While discussing the issue, the Jaycees learned there are other problems and that perhaps the equalizing of the number of voters in each ward is more pressing. A second thought was that Nebraska City ought to have its own county commissioner and that the county's present three districts ought also to be re-zoned to equalize the voting population.
One person was of the opinion that the state senator should be elected from Nebraska City and still another person opined that a courthouse for every county was outmoded and counties should reorganize like school districts.
